Information Technology Department
Overview:
The Information Technology (IT) Department researches, develops, implements, troubleshoots and maintains the Kentucky Child Now website and technology infrastructure both in the office and on the road for our many trainers, coordinators and staff as they pursue the work of positive youth development, advocacy and network coordination. Kentucky Child Now is a very collaborative organization with a large audience reach. The organization serves as the home of several statewide programs, which means that new ways of communicating - including webinars and remote access for staff and collaborators - with our audiences are constantly being pursued and reviewed. This is an exciting time to experience the growth and diversity of ways technology supports a wide range of work, events and methods of collaboration.

Kentucky School-Based Health Care Network
Network Overview:
The Kentucky School-Based Health Care Network organizes, leads and advocates for School-Based Health Centers. School-Based Health Centers may be defined in a variety of ways, but a good working definition is, “A partnership between schools and community-based health organizations that brings high quality services directly into the school building.”
School-Based Health Centers often have a Nurse Practitioner or even a Physician Assistant on staff and are able to provide comprehensive medical services beyond what a school nurse can provide, such as physicals, immunizations, diagnoses of illness and even prescribing medications. Some Centers are able to provide dental care or mental health services, in addition to traditional physical services.
There are 16 School-Based Health Centers in Kentucky that we know of, though there are probably more. The Network is in the beginning stages and is still in the process of defining itself and creating goals for the future.
For an intern this would be an exciting time to experience the beginning stages of coalition building, marketing campaigns and advocacy. Time requirements would be between 5 and 10 hours/week.
