KY Youth Development Partnership


Connecting Resources and Support for Kentucky’s Youth
The Kentucky Youth Development Partnership (KYDP), formed in 2001, is a federally funded initiative of Kentucky Child Now and UK, CES, 4-H/Youth Development. It is a public/private coalition of more than twenty-five state and local youth-serving organizations who are dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential.

The Partnership aims to foster collaboration of youth services and to promote positive youth development by connecting the diverse youth development sectors (Workforce, Health, Juvenile Justice, Education, Social Services, Government, Non-profit) and communities to increase capacity, better utilize existing resources and increase awareness of the role of positive youth development and its tenants.

Our Purpose:
To foster collaboration of youth services at the state and local level and promote positive youth development.

Our Vision:
Youth are respected, valued, and have access to the resources, opportunities and support they need to be healthy and successful.

Desired Results for the Partnership:

  • Youth Involvement: Youth are involved in the planning, governance, assessment, and delivery of youth policy and services.
  • Awareness: Youth, families and communities have knowledge of positive youth development and the skills and ability to build healthy and successful youth.
  • Network of Support: Youth support system will have the support of a statewide network to facilitate coordination, collaboration, and communication.
  • Capacity Building: Youth support system will have access to training, technical assistance, and resources to support and implement the youth development approach.
  • Policy: Kentucky will adopt state-level youth development policies based on the youth development approach.

Funding:
The Kentucky Youth Development Partnership is one of nine states that receive funding through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration of Children and Families www.acf.hhs.gov, Family Youth Services Bureau, Positive Youth Development State and Local Collaboration Demonstration Project. The project is administered in Kentucky by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service 4-H Youth Development Programs www.ca.uky.edu. The KYDP also receives in-kind support from Kentucky Child Now and partner agencies, and funding for programs from the Western Kentucky University www.wku.edu Spotlight Youth.
